For further information click hereApply Online Link Primary Objective The Regional Development Officer is responsible for providing a single communication conduit to the NT Government for community residents, facilitating conversations on behalf of government with the community improved government coordination of service delivery and delivery of information and consultations on priority government initiatives. Key Responsivities 1. Provide regular and ongoing support to Regional Executive Directors in relation to their communications with local organisations (Community, Economic & Environment), key community leaders and remote community residents.2. Liaise closely with local leaders and remote community members to inform and establish measures to maximise community knowledge of, and participation in, government initiatives, including Local Decision Making.3. Develop networks across government agencies that are delivering services and support to the community and ensure across government activities, including community visits are well coordinated.4. Provide a key point of communication for interactions between community members and the Northern Territory Government. 5. Act as a conduit to identify opportunities and resolve matters of concern in relation to Government service delivery and ensure inquiries and issues are raised with the appropriate government agency. 6. Develop strong networks with all organisations delivering services into the community, including the Australian Government, the regional council and non-government organisations. Selection Criteria Essential 1. Ability to interact with Aboriginal people in a culturally appropriate manner2. Well-developed social awareness including an understanding of the complexities of Indigenous cultural, social and economic issues and how they may impact on community development.3. Demonstrated ability to organise and conduct regular meetings with key stakeholders. Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.4. Experience in community development and working with remote Aboriginal people.5. Demonstrated strong work ethic, with evidence of an ability to set and achieve goals with minimal supervision, response to changing situations and circumstances, meet deadlines and produce quality work both individually and as a team member.6. Demonstrated ability to prepare meeting notes, briefings and reports for government.7. Capacity to use information technology applications to manage and report data. Desirable 1. Local knowledge and experience working with communities within identified region.2. Formal studies in a field of social science or business, including community development.
