For further information click here Apply Online Link Primary Objective The Clinical Nurse Specialist will ensure best practice aligned to relevant, contemporary Oncology standards for the provision of quality, patient centred cancer care. Key Duties and Responsibilities Deliver clinical and supportive care requirements consistent with evidence based practice. Liaise with members of the multi-disciplinary team and relevant service providers to deliver patient centred and specialised cancer care. Act as a role model and resource adopt a flexible approach to clinical education, training and orientation for all staff. In the absence of and in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM), co-ordinate the units clinical and management activities to ensure the provision of optimal nursing care of patients and families. Arrange and administer chemotherapy treatments, and patient education. Communicate all pertinent information regarding treatment protocols/supportive drug therapies to pharmacy. Undertake patient toxicity assessments and apply appropriate multi-disciplinary team referrals in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Coordinator. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour. Selection Criteria Essential 1. Eligible for registration and current annual practicing certificate with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). 2. Demonstrated proficient clinical nursing expertise in Oncology at senior nurse level and possess extensive experience in Oncology/Haematology, ideally with at least three years experience, advanced knowledge of cancer, related drugs and symptom management. 3. Demonstrated commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), research, education and innovation to achieve organisational goals and efficiency. 4. Demonstrated experience in unit and team planning, implementation and evaluation. 5. Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, counselling, multi-disciplinary team building and leadership skills at an advanced level within a health care environment. 6. Ability to understand and support contemporary issues related to Equal Employment Office (EEO), cultural diversity, WHS, Information Technology (IT) and Human Resource Management (HRM). 7. Capable of managing diverse, complex and stressful situations in an efficient and effective manner. Desirable 1. Possess Post Graduate qualifications in Oncology.
